The Hotel location was excellent, on one of the narrow streets and only 4 minutes walk to/from Puerta Del Sol and Metro station and less than 15 minutes to Plaza Mayor and Royal Palace . There are many ( and I mean many ) shops, excellent restaurants, and great tapas bars, etc with 2 minutes walk. The best places to have tapas, small meals and cheap drinks are the 100 Montaditos tapa bars that are dotted about the city, and are extremely good value. A large beer (540ml) costs €2 and tapas are €1 each. I had 5 different tapas and a large beer and that was enough for a filling lunch ( all for less the £6.50 ) . The larger bars/restaurants charge for €3.5 to €5.50 for beers. But, back to comments on the Hotel Liabeny. The check in/reception staff were very nice and efficient and made us feel very welcome on arrival . It was explained that we could book breakfast for a discounted rate ( so it is better to wait until arrival, rather than booking with tour companies ) . The breakfast was continental ( as one would expect) with cereals, many choices of meats, scrambled eggs, quiche, sausages, bacon etc ( you could also have boiled or fried eggs on request ), an excellent choice of fresh fruit, croissants etc. A great way to start your day. The rooms are very spacious, extremely pleasing, and the bathroom was very large, with a double size walk in shower. We booked a twin bedded room, and were pleasantly surprised to find that the beds were actually both 3/4 size. The room was cleaned and towels changed daily by a very pleasant maid. We bought a 10 trip ticket for the Metro ( which would have given us 5 trips each, including the one from the airport) for €14.60,including €3 airport surcharge each, you have to pay €3 each on the return journey ( total €20.60),a taxi ONLY costs €30 each way ( that is a fixed charge) takes 15 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic, compared to 45 minutes plus by Metro. DEFINITELY taxi every time !!!!

Location is quite good; it's near some of the main streets and markets. However, due to some road work / construction and lot of one-ways, better have your cabbie speak to the hotel. We were dropped off a short distance away - for my parents, it was difficult considering there was luggage. The rooms were real nice. I was shocked that there was a strong stench of cigarette smoke in the first floor - staff said they would look into it. Despite asking for two rooms to be together, parents and I were on different floors! Strangely, my folks, despite getting a suite like room, didn't get water, tea or coffee! I got it all. Should out to Daniel who helped with all the luggage with the efficiency and purpose of Hercules!

What a GREAT hotel! The location was simply perfect. We spent two weeks there and we could not have been happier with our choice. The staff was genuinely nice, the buffet breakfast was good, even though it got repetitive after day three, it had so many choices that we could have had different breakfast each day. We did not visit the bar, the gym and sauna seemed a little isolated, but we got our cardio from all the walking. By the time we were there (Christmas '23) there was no construction in the lobby. The cafeteria is nice, and the restaurant serves incredibly good quality food. Overall, it is a ten for us.

Room is good size. All equipped with coffee, tea, bathroom amenities including body lotion. Bed is large and comfortable. Got space to put up 2 luggages so we don't have to pack on the floor! Location is perfect to go anywhere...shops, restaurants.

The location is excellent near a public transport and super wakable. The breakfast is EXCELLENT. The staff is great. This was probably the best hotel in all of Spain for the price.
